KOMPLEX IS READY [+gift for you <3]
Posted by: Quolcat - 06-09-2023, 04:33 PM - Forum: Main Forum - Replies (4)

KOMPLEX IS READY

The long wait finally ends! Due to the supply chain disruption caused by Covid-19 we had to scrape together parts from all corners of the world for nearly two years. Finally the last necessary chip has found its way into the box labelled "Komplex Sequencer". We are now able to start producing a "golden sample" and organize a full production run.

First 10 persons pre-ordering will receive 10 KOMA Elektronik branded patch cables with the perfect size to internally patch the Komplex patchbay

GOLDEN SAMPLE
What is a "golden sample" and why is it necessary?First off: NO, there will NOT be a Komplex with an enclosure made out of gold (at least not in any forseeable future). But whenever a "complex" product like the Komplex undergoes some bigger changes, KOMA usually won't just go ahead and change a bunch of circuitry to willy nilly start production right away. Instead, great care is taken and a so-called "golden sample" is produced. This means that all changes are worked into the circuitry and a single prototype is being built to be tested thoroughly.

NEW FEATURES
We added a new functionality into the Komplex Sequencer:The Transpose CV input now also transposes the MIDI notes that a sequencer is producing. Also some circuitry had to undergo changes to account for non-available and now obsolete chips. We already have a prototype here with the necessary changes but it still has a bunch of colored wires dangling out of the enclosure and the changes are essentially piggy-backed on the original circuitry. That's why we are producing a golden sample right now as you read these lines. Once that prototype comes back and is all good, we will trigger production.

WHAT ELSE HAS CHANGED?
The new Komplex run is very limited and will be available in2 batches of 25 pieces each. Some of you that were eying the Komplex for a longer time might have noticed that the sales price increased. Unfortunately many components needed for building a Komplex sequencer have gotten more expensive since our last production run. In fact, it is fair to say that ALL components have gotten substantially more expensive. This starts with electronic parts not available on the market anymore, like microcontrollers that we had to buy for an elevated price, goes over hardware parts like sliders and pushbuttons and ends with greatly risen prices for both the metal enclosure and wooden side cheeks.
WHAT NOW?
Since demand is huge, as of today, we have enabled backordering of Komplex Sequencers in our web shop. We have already ordered a few components like the metal enclosures and wooden side panels but the majority of production will have to wait until the golden sample is here.Since we already tested the new functionality and can verify it with our "Frankenstein" unit here, it should be smooth sailing from here on out. In fact, we are testing this feature since nearly a year in our synth setup in the. workshop and enjoy it thoroughly.

HOW TO PRE-ORDER

Current estimated delivery date for the first batch is September 2023
That's how long it takes for all the necessary parts to arrive in our workshop plus assemble time. It is "first come, first served" or as you programmers like to call it: FIFO (first in, first out).
So, be quick, and reserve your unit today! We will keep you updated about important milestones.

All the best from Berlin,
The KOMA Team

  Broken channel on mixer
Posted by: larsove - 05-26-2023, 07:26 PM - Forum: Main Forum - Replies (1)

I have a broken channel 3 on my mixer. It just suddenly stopped working, no sound out. I'm handy with a solder station, but I'm not good at troubleshooting audio equipment or reading schematics.
But can anyone here point me in the right direction as of what components to swap out? I'm guessing a broken OP-amp.

Cheers,
LarsO

  Question about Spring Tank
Posted by: Harps - 05-17-2023, 08:06 PM - Forum: Main Forum - Replies (1)

I'm about to buy a Field Kit FX  + expander, and was wondering if the Spring Tank's output is also usable going into an audio interface or other eurorack module. Just need to make sure it's not only designed to work for the Field Kit FX/Field Kit.

Is it possible to shop directly from Koma in Berlin?
Posted by: minyu - 04-26-2023, 07:10 PM - Forum: Main Forum - Replies (2)

Hello all,

I am wondering is it possible to shop directly from Koma in Berlin? or where can one find Koma products except Schneidersladen.

I live in Istanbul. A friend of mine will be in Berlin tomorrow, and will be back in Istanbul next Monday.

I asked her to bring back to me a Koma Kommander and a few attenuator cables. I know that Common Ground is closed and Koma's only reseller that I could find is Schneidersladen which Kommander is out of stock sadly.

I e-mailed support@koma-elektronik.com , about the possibility that if they could give an appointment to my friend for her to buy these somehow face to face, but I am not sure if that is possible in such a short notice.

Does anyone of you know how can she find Koma products, specifically the Kommander?

I am scheduled to do few live performance series with my small modular setup starting May 6th in Istanbul, and I am really in need one Kommander to use in these performances.

If someone gives me heads up, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Field Kit FX feature request - inverted CV
Posted by: maceq687 - 04-16-2023, 03:21 PM - Forum: Main Forum - Replies (4)

I have an idea for a new feature for the CV interface - inverted CV mode. How it would work - hold button when either of the four colours is selected and wait for the solid led to start blinking, blinking would indicate inverted CV mode, hold again to disable inverted CV mode. function description: inverted CV would mean that the CV from the CV interface is inverted so that e.g. you could get an option to crossfade (or even ringmod) between two mixer channels using single CV input (in this scenario one of the channels would be in inverted mode). I believe it could also be used creatively with the other CV controllable parameters as well. Since the Roll o-decks is 0-5V it would make sense for the inverted mode to turn 0-5V into 5-0V (or maybe -5V - 5V into 5V - -5V, not sure what would work better, CV interface inputs works in +/-5V range)

  13 Years of KOMA Elektronik
Posted by: Quolcat - 04-01-2023, 12:49 AM - Forum: Main Forum - No Replies

This is a little brief of how KOMA Elektronik started; and if we're still here is thanks to all of you <3

This is why we want to celebrate an amazing 13 years with our users and fans, who have been with us on this journey since the beginning.
As a token of our appreciation, we're offering a special promo code," [KOMA13"], that will give you a discount on your next purchase. So whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to the KOMA Elektronik family, now is the perfect time to join us in celebrating 13 years of pushing the boundaries of music electronics.

Berlin, April 2010: In a small apartment in the heart of the city, a group of young musicians and electronics enthusiasts huddled around a workbench. They tinkered and experimented with circuits, driven by a shared passion for music and a desire to create something truly unique. As the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, their project began to take shape. They built boutique effects pedals that sounded unlike anything else on the market. Their quirky design and innovative features caught the attention of local musicians and quickly gained a following.

Word spread and the small team worked tirelessly to meet demand, refining their designs and experimenting with new ideas. Over time, the operation grew and evolved. They added new products to their lineup, from Komplex Sequencers to Field Kits, and began to expand into new markets. Their brand, KOMA Elektronik, became synonymous with unique instrument design and a commitment to quality.

Thanks to everyone and get ready for what is coming :)

  Komplex Mk II
Posted by: DannyMcO - 03-24-2023, 02:08 AM - Forum: Main Forum - Replies (5)

Greetings, ladies & gentlemen of the Koma Elektronik crew.

I see that the Komplex Mk II is available for pre-order, but can't find a single reseller with an option for entering one, and there's nowhere on koma-elektronik.com that I can find that would allow me to accomplish this.

I'd love to be the first one in line if it's at all possible - how do I go about putting in a pre-order?

Please let me know -

Thanks -

  Portability Solution?
Posted by: dsommars - 02-24-2023, 11:56 PM - Forum: Main Forum - No Replies

I’m trying to come up with a way to use my FK… well, in the *field*… without the need for a wall adapter or a short-lived 9v battery. I searched this forum, but couldn’t find anything like what I’ve described below. Any feedback is appreciated.

I have a USB power brick that has 9v@2.77A among its USB-C PD-regulated output voltages. Since the amperage used is determined by the device drawing the current, I figure I should be able to plug a “USB-C to Barrel DC plug” cable into my FK, as long as the barrel is the correct size, is center-negative, and the cable has a PD chip.

Does anyone see a reason this would release the magic smoke from my FK? Has anyone tried a similar solution?

Best regards,

-Daniel S.

My power bank is model HX200Q4. It’s similar to this one below, but 36,800 mAh. (My thinking is that even the USB-B would work with its 9v@2A on the quick-charge ports.)

Here’s the USB-C to DC Barrel cable at Adafruit.
