Field Kit FX feature request - inverted CV

I have an idea for a new feature for the CV interface - inverted CV mode. How it would work - hold button when either of the four colours is selected and wait for the solid led to start blinking, blinking would indicate inverted CV mode, hold again to disable inverted CV mode. function description: inverted CV would mean that the CV from the CV interface is inverted so that e.g. you could get an option to crossfade (or even ringmod) between two mixer channels using single CV input (in this scenario one of the channels would be in inverted mode). I believe it could also be used creatively with the other CV controllable parameters as well. Since the Roll o-decks is 0-5V it would make sense for the inverted mode to turn 0-5V into 5-0V (or maybe -5V - 5V into 5V - -5V, not sure what would work better, CV interface inputs works in +/-5V range)

Hey, that is a great idea actually! I just checked but unfortunately with the current hardware, this is not possible. The CV path is fully analog, only the switching is digitally done via the microcontroller. So there is currently no way to invert the CV without changing the complete CV switching matrix setup. Since we are currently already struggling to even get the chips for producing the Field Kit FX altogether, we are not planning to change anything in the hardware soon.

But this is a very cool idea and we'll definitely write it down for future development!

Ah, I thought that it would be possible with a firmware change but now that I think about it it make sense that only switching is done digitally and not the whole CV path ;)

Yeah, I mean you are not wrong to assume this. If the Field Kit FX was "more CV matrix" and "less effects unit", it very likely could have been solved like this. It would mean that any incoming CV is read by a microcontroller, possibly worked on and then sent to the desired locations. But the FKFX is already chock full of circuitry, so adding all this extra overhead was not possible. So the microcontroller in the FKFX only reads the button presses of the CV assignment buttons and then lets a shift register open / close the correct analog switches.

Yes, I get it. Maybe it would be possible by adding 4x inverters (one per channel), 4x summing with bias and by replacing the switches with ones that can handle 8 inputs. I'm not an electronics expert but such modification could possibly work without a microcontroller?
